The incumbent will carry out psychiatric examinations and assessments, make diagnoses, write physician’s orders, determine the need for and carry out consultations with external psychiatric personnel, educate patients individually, participate with other clinical staff on the treatment team, respond to psychiatric emergencies, carry out discharge planning and post discharge referral, carry out quality improvement activities, may supervise a Nurse Practitioner Psychiatry, and other job-related tasks as assigned. Computer skills are required, as well as flexibility to assist at other ATCs within the region as needed. NOTE: The ATC uses a computerized patient record system. Base pay range

$256,651.00/yr - $269,202.00/yr Minimum Qualifications

Psychiatrist 2 : Must possess a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and certification in psychiatry by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). Psychiatrist 1 : Must possess a license and current registration to practice medicine in New York State, and completion of a training program in psychiatry approved by the American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology (ABPN). The salary range listed reflects the full range for this graded position, factoring in annual performance advances based on satisfactory annual performance reviews. Candidates with no previous State service will begin at the hiring rate (starting rate of the salary range) listed above, plus any applicable Location Pay/Geographic Pay/Shift Pay differentials. Promotion salaries are calculated by the NYS Office of the State Comptroller in accordance with NYS Civil Service Law, OSC Payroll rules and regulations, and negotiated union contracts.
