Were seeking an experienced
Safety Manager
to oversee safety and quality control on active
substation construction
projects. This role ensures strict compliance with safety regulations, high-voltage protocols, and quality standards while fostering a strong safety culture in the field. The position requires
frequent travel between job sites
to monitor and support crews in multiple locations. Key Responsibilities: Serve as the on-site safety authority for substation projects, ensuring compliance with OSHA, NFPA 70E, NESC, and client requirements. Maintain a visible presence in the field, monitor operations, enforce PPE compliance, and mentor crews on safe work practices. Conduct hazard assessments for high-risk activities and stop work if unsafe conditions are identified. Lead daily safety briefings, verify crew qualifications, and coordinate with project leadership to prevent safety conflicts. Investigate incidents and near-misses, determine root causes, and implement corrective actions. Document safety inspections and communicate trends to leadership. Minimum Qualifications: Minimum 10 years
of verifiable construction experience with direct
field experience in substation construction
(civil, structural, or electrical). 3+ years in a safety or quality control role in construction or utilities. OSHA 30 (Construction) certification. CPR/First Aid/AED certification. Valid drivers license, reliable transportation, and ability to travel regularly between job sites. Preferred Qualifications: Bilingual (Spanish/English). Advanced safety certifications: OSHA 500, CSP, CHST, CUSP. Knowledge of NFPA 70E, NESC, EM 385-1-1 standards and QA/QC systems. Strong leadership, communication, and mentoring skills.
