We are seeking a Safety Specialist to join our team and help us continue building a culture of safety and compliance as we grow.

Position Overview

The Safety Specialist will play a key role in implementing, monitoring, and improving safety policies and programs across all projects. This position will focus on field safety in overhead electrical distribution work, ensuring compliance with OSHA, DOT, and industry-specific regulations while fostering a proactive, safety-first culture among all team members.

This role will work closely with field crews, supervisors, customers and leadership to train, coach, and lead safe work practices in high-voltage environments.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct field safety audits and job site inspections to ensure compliance with company policies, OSHA, and utility standards.
  • Lead tailboard meetings, safety stand-downs, and site-specific training sessions for field crews.
  • Investigate incidents, near misses, and property damage to determine root cause and develop corrective actions.
  • Maintain and update safety documentation, including JSAs, job hazard analyses, and safety reporting.
  • Assist with compliance on DOT/FMCSA requirements for fleet and driver safety.
  • Collaborate with project managers, foremen, and utility representatives to ensure safe work planning and execution.
  • Provide coaching and mentoring to team members to promote a positive safety culture.
  • Stay current with industry regulations and recommend updates to company policies and procedures.

Qualifications

Required:

  • 2+ years of safety experience, preferably in utility construction, powerline work, or heavy industrial environments.
  • Strong understanding of OSHA 1910 and 1926 standards, NESC, and electrical safe work practices.
  • Ability to travel to multiple job sites throughout the region.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills for engaging with field personnel and leadership.
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record.

Preferred:

  • Line field work experience is a huge plus.
  • Experience working with overhead electrical distribution crews or other high-voltage environments.
  • Safety certifications such as OSHA 30, CSP, CHST, or Utility Safety Professional (USP).
  • Familiarity with DOT/FMCSA compliance programs.
