CVICU RN Job Details:
- Assignment Type: Travel nurse contract
- Location: San Antonio, TX 78229 (South Texas Medical Center)
- Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
- Start Date: August 28, 2025
- End Date: November 27, 2025
- Duration: 13 weeks
- Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), rotating weekends
- Hours per Week: 36
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $1460 - $1500
- On-Site Position
Registered Nurse Qualifications:
- Active Texas RN license (no temporary licenses accepted)
- Minimum 2 years of ICU or CVICU nursing experience required
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
- NIH Stroke Scale certification
- Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring (swans, arterial lines)
- Ventilator management experience
- Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills
- Ability to float to other critical care units as needed (per facility policy)
- Preferred: IABP and CRRT exposure, Meditech charting experience
CVICU RN Responsibilities:
- Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in the CVICU
- Monitor and manage patients with advanced cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO)
- Care for post-CABG, post-VAD, and post-cath patients
- Perform and document assessments, interventions, and evaluations using Meditech EHR
- Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
- Adhere to hospital policies, including attendance, dress code (navy scrubs), and floating guidelines
- Maintain a safe, supportive, and compliant environment for patients and staff
