CVICU RN Job Details:

• Assignment Type: Travel nurse contract
• Location: San Antonio, TX 78229 (South Texas Medical Center)
• Unit: Cardiovascular Intensive Care Unit (CVICU)
• Start Date: August 28, 2025
• End Date: November 27, 2025
• Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift: 12-hour shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM or 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM), rotating weekends
• Hours per Week: 36
• Estimated Weekly Salary: $1460 - $1500
• On-Site Position

Registered Nurse Qualifications:

• Active Texas RN license (no temporary licenses accepted)
• Minimum 2 years of ICU or CVICU nursing experience required
• Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification
• Basic Life Support (BLS) certification
• NIH Stroke Scale certification
• Proficiency in hemodynamic monitoring (swans, arterial lines)
• Ventilator management experience
• Strong critical thinking and clinical assessment skills
• Ability to float to other critical care units as needed (per facility policy)
• Preferred: IABP and CRRT exposure, Meditech charting experience

CVICU RN Responsibilities:

• Provide high-quality nursing care to critically ill cardiovascular patients in the CVICU
• Monitor and manage patients with advanced cardiac support devices (IABP, Impella, ECMO)
• Care for post-CABG, post-VAD, and post-cath patients
• Perform and document assessments, interventions, and evaluations using Meditech EHR
• Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes
• Adhere to hospital policies, including attendance, dress code (navy scrubs), and floating guidelines
• Maintain a safe, supportive, and compliant environment for patients and staff
