ICU RN Job Details – Eureka, CA

  • Location: Eureka, CA 95501 (Northern California healthcare jobs)
  • Assignment Length: 13-week travel nursing contract
  • Start Date: October 20, 2025
  • End Date: January 19, 2026
  • Setting: Intensive Care Unit (ICU) – Acute Care Hospital
  • Shift: Night shifts, 4x10-hour shifts/week (19:00 – 05:30)
  • Hours per Week: 40
  • Estimated Weekly Pay: $2080–$2230
  • Patient Ratio: 1:2
  • Charting System: Epic EMR
  • Scrub Colors: Any solid color (Royal Blue or Navy preferred)
  • Free parking available

ICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

  • Active and unrestricted California RN license (required for California nursing jobs)
  • Minimum 3 years of recent ICU nurse experience
  • Current ACLS and BLS certifications
  • Experience with Epic charting system preferred
  • Ability to float between similar units and affiliate hospitals
  • Willing to work 2 out of 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas, New Year)
  • At least 2 supervisory references covering 1 year of ICU employment within the last 3 years
  • All time-off requests must be submitted with application

ICU RN Responsibilities

  • Provide high-quality, compassionate nursing care to critically ill adult and geriatric patients
  • Manage complex conditions: multisystem organ dysfunction, acute stroke (CVA), post-cardiac and neurosurgery, traumatic brain injury
  • Perform advanced ICU procedures: arterial line management, ventilator care, central line management, titration of cardiac and vasoactive drips
  • Interpret arterial blood gases and cardiac dysrhythmias
  • Administer blood products and IV medications according to protocol
  • Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams (physical therapy, respiratory therapy, social services)
  • Maintain accurate documentation in Epic EMR
  • Follow infection prevention and isolation protocols
  • Float to other units or affiliate hospitals as needed
