Responsibilities
This position serves as a Grants Specialist for the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry. The incumbent is responsible for activities associated with the administering, tracking, and reporting of federal, state, local, and private awards, assisting principal investigators with pre-award and post-award processes, as well as assisting with all sponsored project support activities.
Duties Include:
Reconciling and monitoring fiscal activities for reporting purposes, ensuring compliance with federal, state, and university policies Analyzing, verifying, recording, and tracking transactions (revenue, transfers, expenditures of all types) through completion on all assigned projects Preparing integrated financial and statistical reports, financial statements, and projections for short- and/or long-term impacts on grant funding Initiating the approval and audit of fiscal activities for contract/grant management of the Department of Chemistry & Biochemistry, including pre- and post-award activities and proposal development Approving transactions and following up on transactions to ensure completion in a timely manner Within the first 30 days, candidate should be able to:
Develop, analyze, and review sponsored project documents for accuracy and compliance Assist in proposal development by interpreting agency/solicitation guidelines to grantees Interpret and provide guidance on federal, university, and college policies; monitor all sponsored project activities for compliance Advise PIs on pre- and post-award actions; work with them on budget development and submission, long-term planning, and grant closeout Within 60 days:
Coordinate personnel appointments with the departmental HR, SRAS, and Central HR Provide FACET information to the Assistant to the Chair Understand the roles of the other staff members as relates to project-related tasks Provide backup as needed, e.g., submit HR actions such as appointments, and fiscal actions such as purchasing and travel for sponsored projects Within 90 days:
Assist the Grants Administrator for the department in training new staff Potentially assist with the development and recommendation of policies and procedures related to grants activities Complete additional duties related to pre- and post-award project activities as assigned by supervisor and/or Department Chair
Qualifications
Minimum Qualifications Include:
Bachelor's degree and one year experience, or a high school diploma and five years of experience (Note: post-high school education and/or experience may substitute at a comparable rate) This position requires successful completion of the eSPEAR Certification Series within the first six months from start date

Anticipated Salary Range
Minimum starting salary for this position is $48,000. Anticipated starting salary will be commensurate with experience and qualifications.
