Locums - Spokane, Washington, NP/PA Cardiothoracic Surgery Opening
Coverage Dates: ASAP - Ongoing Need
Schedule & Call:
Daytime: 7:00 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.
Call: 5:00 p.m. - 7:00 a.m.
Weekend Call: Friday 5:00 p.m. - Monday 7:00 a.m.
Rotation: 1 in 3 during the week, 1 in 4 weekends
Setting:
Cardiothoracic Surgery
No clinic - Locum will work primarily in the OR and ICU, with occasional patients in stepdown.
Team Structure:
4 Surgeons and 4 PAs
Procedures Performed:
Robotic Lobectomy and Thymectomy (DaVinci Xi Robot)
Coronary Artery Bypass Grafting
Aortic Valve Replacement / TAVR Procedures
Mitral Valve Repair and Replacement
Thoracotomy and VATS Procedures
Left Ventricular Assist Device (LVAD) Implantation
Aortic Dissection Repair
ECMO
PA/NP Workflow & Responsibilities:
Morning rounds with daily progress notes
Medication management; order appropriate labs/studies
Consults, history & physicals, discharge summaries
Chest tube management and removal
Attend multidisciplinary rounds (on call days)
First assist in all procedures
Endoscopic vein and radial artery harvesting using Maquet System (Hemopro 2 Vasoview)
Prepare harvested conduit
Place post-op orders
Close sternotomy (as per surgeon preference)
Call Duties Include:
Finishing late cases
Taking calls from CCU
Returning for emergency cases
Weekend call includes rounding, progress notes, discharges, and chest tube management

Hospital is Stroke Certified
Trauma Level III
EMR: Epic
Requirements:
Board Certified / Board Eligible - Required
Active WA License or Compact License - Accepted
BLS - Required
