Position Summary

We are seeking a Dental Assistant - Prosthodontist. The Prosthodontist Dental Assistant works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment for dentistry procedures, ready patients for procedures, pass instruments, hold suction, and anticipate the dentist’s needs. Responsibilities may include removing sutures, processing x-rays, and taking oral impressions used to fit crowns.

Responsibilities

• Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist
• Provide chair-side assistance and support for dental examinations and treatments
• Prepare patients for treatment and obtain dental records; ensure patient comfort
• Hand instruments and materials to dentists; manage suction to keep the patient’s mouth dry and clear
• Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment; prepare instrument trays; educate patients on postoperative and general oral health care
• Prepare materials for impressions and restorations; take dental X-rays and process X-ray film as directed by a dentist
• Assist with radiographic needs as directed by dental team
• Perform office duties as needed (scheduling, confirming appointments, reception, treatment records, billing, payments, ordering supplies)
• Assist in specialty areas such as oral surgery, periodontics, and prosthodontics including dental implantology
• Support and assist the hygienist with room setup and cleanups
• Help track inventory of prosthetic supplies and maintain organized storage
• Support radiographic needs of Patient Education Consultants, Oral Surgeon, and Hygienists

Working Conditions

• Work in a well-lit, clean environment near the dental chair
• Wear gloves, masks, eyewear, and protective clothing to protect self and patients
• Follow safety procedures for x-ray equipment

Experience

• Certified as a Dental Assistant by the ADA
• Two years of Dental Assistant experience
• Dental implant experience desired
• Reliable, team oriented, with good manual dexterity
• Current CPR certification

Physical Requirements

• Regularly work in an office environment; move around the office as needed
• Walk or stand for extended periods; often lift up to 50 pounds
• Fine motor skills for precise instrument handling

Compensation And Benefits

The anticipated compensation range is $25.00 - $28.00 per hour.
