Position Summary

We are seeking a Dental Assistant - Prosthodontist. The Prosthodontist Dental Assistant works under a dentist’s supervision to prepare equipment for dentistry procedures, ready patients for these procedures, and assist the dentist during procedures by passing instruments, holding suction, and anticipating the dentist’s needs. Responsibilities may include removing sutures, processing x-rays, and taking oral impressions used to fit crowns.

Responsibilities

  • Work under the direct supervision of the Prosthodontist
  • Provide chair-side assistance during examinations and treatments
  • Ensure patient comfort, prepare patients for treatment, and obtain dental records
  • Hand instruments and materials to dentists and keep patients’ mouths dry and clear by using suction or other devices
  • Sterilize and disinfect instruments and equipment, prepare instrument trays, and instruct patients on postoperative and general oral health care
  • Prepare materials for impressions and restorations, take dental x-rays, and process x-ray film as directed
  • Support radiographic needs of clinical staff and assist with related procedures
  • Perform office duties as needed (scheduling, confirming appointments, check-in/out, treatment records, billing, payments, and ordering supplies)
  • Assist in specialty areas such as oral surgery, periodontics, and prosthodontics including dental implantology
  • Support and assist the hygienist with room setups and cleanup
  • Help track inventory of prosthetic supplies and keep storage organized

Working Conditions

  • Well-lit, clean dental environment, typically near the dental chair
  • Protective PPE required (gloves, masks, eyewear, protective clothing)
  • Follow safety procedures for radiographic equipment

Experience

  • Certified as a Dental Assistant by the ADA
  • Two years of dental assistant experience
  • Dental implant experience preferred
  • Reliable, able to work well in a fast-paced environment, with good manual dexterity
  • Current CPR certification

Physical Requirements

  • Regularly in an office environment; able to walk for extended periods and assist wherever needed
  • Lift up to 50 pounds
  • Stand for extended periods; precise hand-eye coordination
  • Ability to multitask and coordinate movements while working in the mouth

Compensation And Benefits

The anticipated compensation range is $24.00–$25.00 per hour. Benefits include medical/rx, dental and vision coverage, retirement plan (401(k)), flexible spending accounts, health savings accounts, company-paid short- and long-term disability, employee assistance program, and voluntary benefits such as life/AD&D, critical illness, accident insurance, hospital indemnity, and pet insurance.
