Waste Connections of New York is hiring: Heavy Equipment Operator in Avenal

Overview

Avenal Landfill, a Waste Connections company, is seeking a Heavy Equipment Operator to join our team in Avenal, CA.

Schedule: Monday-Friday, 7:00 AM - 4:00 PM, with the possibility of working every other Saturday from 7:00 AM - 12:00 PM (overtime hours as needed).

Compensation: Starting pay is $22-$26 per hour, based on experience. The pay range for the job category is $22-27 per hour. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, 401k, paid vacation, and more.

Responsibilities

• Operate Dozer, Excavator, and Loader to manage waste and debris
• Move and grade soil as needed to maintain site operations
• Conduct routine inspections and maintenance of equipment
• Provide assistance to customers and team members as required
• Operate a company vehicle for parts running as needed, ensuring timely and safe delivery of materials

Working Conditions

• Work is performed outdoors in varying weather conditions, including extreme heat, cold, and occasional rain
• Physical labor, including lifting, bending, and standing for extended periods
• Dusty, noisy environment with use of PPE such as hearing protection, gloves, and safety boots
• Exposure to machinery and heavy equipment with safety protocols in place

Minimum Requirements

• 2+ years of heavy equipment operating experience
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Ability to lift 50 pounds unassisted
• Must pass a pre-employment background check and drug screen
• Valid driver\'s license with a clean record
• Ability to work effectively in various outdoor conditions and dynamic environments
