Responsibilities

  • Support production in reducing or eliminating equipment and tooling downtime or scrap, using sound analytical methodologies.
  • Create and maintain Process Flow, PFMEA, Standard Operating Procedures, and Line Balance documentation.
  • Meet or exceed labor content standards using good assembly methodologies and ergonomics.
  • Support and maintain error-proofing methodologies, cell layout enhancements, and update Master CAD layouts.
  • Support and develop department or maintenance projects/activities with sound engineering direction. Participate in or facilitate Lean strategies and Six Sigma activities as appropriate.
  • Facilitate process and continuous improvement.
  • Support, cost estimate, and document engineering changes.
  • Initiate actions to prevent the occurrence of nonconformances related to product, process, and systems. Implement interim processes as required to correct or contain non-conformances.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturing/mechanical processes and equipment (PLC, torque tools and equipment).
  • Document all activities as required.
  • Adhere to all company guidelines for Emergency Evacuation to ensure employee safety.
  • Other duties as assigned by management.

Limits of Authority

  • Advise Department Manager of situations that may pose a significant risk to the program, product assurance, facilities, employee safety, or customer satisfaction results.
  • Initiate actions to prevent nonconformances related to product, process, and systems.
  • Identify and record problems related to the product, process, or system.
  • Initiate, recommend, or provide solutions through appropriate channels and verify implementation.
  • Control further processing and delivery of nonconforming product until the deficiency is corrected.
  • Initiate project RFQs with supporting documentation to be signed.
  • Quote or negotiate pricing and timing from vendors for equipment and tooling.
  • Maintain and obtain approvals for facility layouts and process documentation.
  • Assist and support project management timelines.

Basic Education, Experience And Skills Required

  • 2-year minimum college education and 1 year of experience in manufacturing and assembly operations, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Skills in labor analysis (time studies).
  • AutoCAD experience.
  • PLC understanding.
  • Windows applications (Excel, Word, Project, Management, PowerPoint).
  • Good mechanical/technical skills.
  • Able to maintain confidential information.
