Job Summary

The Lead Custodian III performs highly complex (senior-level) custodial work. Responsibilities include performing, coordinating, cleaning, and sanitizing state hospital buildings and treatment units; providing housekeeping services in a clinical setting, which also involves conducting inspections of the buildings and equipment.

Responsibilities

• Performs cleaning, dusting, and disinfecting restrooms, all office surfaces/furniture, treatment areas, patient bedrooms, and other hospital areas.
• Ensures all patient units meet or exceed the minimum standard guidelines for cleanliness, health and safety, and infection control.
• Inspects the buildings and identifies any problem areas in need of follow up, and ensures follow-up occurs.
• Assists the Custodian Manager in implementing the overall hospital safety and infection control program.

Requirements

• One year of experience in a custodial/housekeeping in custodial or environmental services work in a nursing home, hospital, residential facility, hotel or other similar residential equivalent.
• Ability to understand and follow oral and/or written instructions.
• Ability to stay on task and complete work timely.
• Ability to lift 50 pounds.
• Ability to stand/walk on hard floors for extended periods.

Working Conditions

This position may be required to work overtime and/or extended hours. Flexibility in work hours may be required for this position.

Compliance with HHSC immunization policy and state hospital operating procedures related to immunizations is required.
