Department Information
This position is open to current Colorado residents only. Please note: This recruitment may be used to fill multiple vacancies. The Division of Facilities Management is a customer-driven support organization responsible for providing facilities management services to all CDHS agencies and offices, including custodial and related services. The facilities managed cover multiple sites and provide a safe, clean, and compliant environment for clients and staff.
Description Of Job
This unit performs housekeeping and custodial services to ensure facilities and client environments are cleaned and maintained according to regulatory standards, providing a safe, sanitary environment for clients and staff. The unit serves a wide range of agencies within the Department of Human Services Northern Region, including CMHHFL, DHS, WRRC, and DYS facilities. The position must meet and maintain all regulatory requirements set by JCAHO and the Colorado Department of Public Health and other regulatory agencies.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Performs daily cleaning, sanitizing, and servicing of assigned areas according to schedules and procedures, using appropriate cleaners, chemicals, and equipment (sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, restroom cleaning, etc.).
- Performs daily detail cleaning of assigned areas (washing walls, doors, frames, sills, windows, baseboards, fixtures, furnishings, ceilings, vents, and light fixtures).
- Performs weekly project work in all areas, including hard floors and carpet areas.
- Performs project floor work (buffing, scrubbing, stripping, waxing, sealing) and carpet care (spot cleaning, shampooing, extracting) as needed.
- Collects and disposes of trash and biohazard waste following proper containment and disposal procedures.
- Assists in moving furniture, appliances, equipment, and supplies as needed for projects.
- Cleans and services equipment, maintains janitorial closet, stock levels, and chemical labeling.
- Snow removal.
- Performs other duties as assigned.
This is a full-time, in-person, essential position that may require after-hours call backs to perform essential and/or emergency services. Shift work may be required and this position is eligible for shift differential.
Essential Positions — Positions that perform essential health, safety, and welfare services for patients, residents, or inmates. Employees in essential positions can be non-exempt under the FLSA and may be required to work unusual hours to perform essential and/or emergency services.
Call back provisions: when call back applies, a minimum of two hours of regular base pay is guaranteed. Eligible employees are those eligible for overtime, and call back time is counted as work time.
Minimum Qualifications
Applicants must have at least three months of cleaning experience. Employment history is calculated on a full-time basis (40 hours per week). Part-time employment is prorated. Preferred Qualifications And Competencies
- Experience cleaning and maintaining facilities such as schools, colleges, hospitals, long-term care facilities, mental health institutes, or correctional institutions.
- Experience sweeping and mopping floors, cleaning restrooms, emptying trash, dusting, and vacuuming in similar facilities.
- Possession of a valid, non-restricted Colorado Driver’s License.
Conditions Of Employment
- A full pre-employment criminal background check will be conducted due to direct contact with vulnerable persons. Certain convictions may disqualify applicants.
- Must be willing to submit to and pass a full background check.
- Travel may be required for training and meetings.
- Must be willing to receive an annual influenza vaccination or provide a medical/religious exemption.
- Must pass a Tuberculosis (TB) test.
- Must be available for call backs and shift work, including outside normal hours.
- Handling hazardous materials and exposure to chemicals and moving parts is possible in this role.
