NICU Registered Nurse (RN) Jobs – Locum Tenens Travel Nursing Opportunity in Urbana, Illinois

NICU RN Job Details

• Estimated Weekly Salary Range: $2250-$2310
• Job Type: Locum tenens, travel nursing contract
• Location: Urbana, Illinois 61801
• Healthcare Setting: Level 3 or higher NICU, Trauma 1 hospital
• Start Date: September 8, 2025
• End Date: December 6, 2025
• Contract Duration: 13 weeks
• Shift Schedule: Night shifts, 7:00 PM – 7:30 AM
• Hours: 36 hours per week (3x12 hour shifts)
• Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week

NICU Registered Nurse Qualifications

• Minimum 3 years of recent NICU nursing experience in a Level 3 or higher facility
• Trauma 1 hospital experience required
• Travel nursing experience preferred
• EPIC EMR proficiency required
• Associate's Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; BSN preferred
• Active Illinois RN license in good standing
• BLS certification (American Heart Association)
• NRP certification (American Heart Association)

NICU RN Responsibilities

• Deliver comprehensive neonatal care in a Level 3 or higher NICU setting
• Conduct initial patient assessments and create individualized care plans
• Implement and adjust nursing interventions based on patient needs
• Maintain accurate documentation of all nursing care
• Monitor intake and output for assigned neonatal patients
• Support mothers with breastfeeding and baby-friendly care practices
• Administer medications using bar code scanning procedures
• Participate in multidisciplinary rounds and report patient status
• Promote patient and staff safety by identifying and addressing hazards
• Communicate effectively with healthcare colleagues and provide feedback
• Pursue ongoing professional development and learning opportunities
