Orthopedic RN Job Details
- Location: Urbana, Illinois 61801
- Healthcare Setting: Orthopedic Inpatient Unit, Level 1 Trauma Center
- Employment Type: Travel Nurse / Locum Tenens
- Shift: 12-hour day shifts (7:00 AM – 7:30 PM)
- Hours per Week: 36
- Assignment Duration: 13 weeks (Start: 10/20/2025 – End: 1/17/2026)
- Guaranteed Hours: 36 per week
- Estimated Weekly Salary: $2040-$2100
- Active Illinois RN license in good standing
- Minimum one (1) year of recent orthopedic or medical/surgical nursing experience
- Associate Degree in Nursing (ASN) required; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred
- BLS certification (American Heart Association) required
- EPIC EMR experience preferred
- Experience in a Level 1 Trauma Center strongly preferred
Orthopedic RN Responsibilities
- Conduct comprehensive assessments of orthopedic and medical/surgical patients during each shift
- Educate patients and families on wound care, mobility, medication management, and care transitions
- Collaborate with physicians, surgeons, and interdisciplinary healthcare team members
- Delegate and oversee interventions performed by healthcare technician staff
- Set up and manage orthopedic traction and surgical traction devices
- Manage wound appliances, including wound vacs, drains, pouches, and urological devices
- Maintain accurate, up-to-date clinical documentation
- Develop, implement, and modify individualized plans of care based on ongoing patient evaluation
- Promote patient and employee safety by identifying and reporting hazards
- Participate in departmental competencies and annual continuing education
