Overview

ICU Registered Nurse (RN) role in the High Acuity Unit at Planet Healthcare in Peoria, IL. This is a permanent, full-time nursing position offering a supportive clinical environment where you provide critical care and grow professionally.

Responsibilities

• Provide high-quality, patient-centered care to critically ill patients in the ICU using the nursing process (assessment, planning, intervention, evaluation).
• Act as a patient advocate and supervise care delivered by nursing support staff.
• Develop, implement, and update individualized nursing care plans in collaboration with patients, families, and interdisciplinary teams.
• Document assessments, care plans, and interventions accurately in the electronic medical record.
• Respond rapidly to changes in patient condition and initiate emergency interventions as needed.
• Administer medications and treatments in accordance with ICU protocols and nursing standards.
• Assist physicians with specialized procedures and diagnostic tests.
• Educate patients and families, participate in discharge planning, and coordinate care with other professionals.
• Maintain a safe, clean, and therapeutic environment for patients and staff.
• Support onboarding and training of new nursing staff and engage in ongoing professional development.

Qualifications

• Active RN license in Illinois or eligibility to obtain (Illinois RN jobs).
• Current American Heart Association BLS certification (required prior to start).
• ACLS certification preferred.
• High School Diploma or GED required; BSN preferred.
• Minimum 1 year of ICU nursing experience required.
• Experience in rehabilitation or acute care setting preferred.
• Proficiency with Electronic Medical Records (EMR) and Microsoft Office.
• Strong communication, organizational, and teamwork skills.
