JELD-WEN is currently seeking a Group Manager-3rd Shift to join our growing team. The hours will be Monday-Thursday 7:00pm-5:30am.
What You Will Do
- Under the direction of the Production Manager, manage and implement the activities on the shop floor, following established procedures and approved processes consistent with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
- Provide direct leadership to Lead employees and their subordinates in assigned areas of production in support of plant operations, goals and objectives.
- Act as a liaison between upper management and hourly employees, providing timely feedback up and down the organizational hierarchy.
- Directly supervise all production and production support operations, driving SQDCI, TPS, OTD and CI activities during the process.
- Proactively develop and manage team member performance and capabilities based on company KPIs.
- Ensure team activities, equipment, facilities, and personnel are operated and maintained in alignment with plant production goals and objectives.
- Assist the Plant Manager and Production Manager in establishing and monitoring overall plant performance for production and quality control standards in accordance with SQDCI, TPS, and CI methodologies.
- Maintain and/or recommend adjustments to plant facilities and equipment in conjunction with CI initiatives, goals and objectives.
- Provide leadership and training to accomplish plant/company goals and objectives in accordance with JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement.
- Implement and maintain preventative maintenance programs.
- Assist in developing safety awareness programs, communicate safety issues, correct safety-related problems, and assist in investigations as needed.
- Assist in performance evaluations of staff and proactive actions of subordinate personnel on an annual, bi-annual, or as-needed basis.
- Perform other duties as directed by supervisory personnel.
Who You Are
- Bachelor's or Associate’s Degree in a related field and one to three years of experience in a manufacturing environment, preferably in the window and door industry; or an equivalent combination of education and experience as determined by plant management.
- Related college work and five to seven years of applicable work experience as determined by plant management.
- Knowledge of raw materials, preferably for door and window applications.
- Fundamental knowledge and experience in production and manufacturing process improvement techniques including SQDCI, OTD, TPS, and CI methodologies and activities.
- Demonstrated leadership, interpersonal, technical aptitude, problem-solving skills, and ability to drive manufacturing process improvement techniques throughout the production process.
- Strong team skills, including the ability to coach and develop work teams and provide training on CI methods and initiatives to subordinates.
- Ability to motivate/empower others, resolve conflict, and understand basic management principles and concepts.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills up and down the organizational hierarchy.
- Basic understanding of JELD-WEN’s Mission Statement, corporate goals, and KPIs.
- Strong knowledge of door and window production machines and tools.
- Flexibility to manage multiple priorities daily.
- Solid computer skills, including Microsoft Office and other applicable software.
- Travel is primarily local during the business day; may travel to seminars and training as needed.
