Job Title: NJ Transit 3rd Shift Desktop Engineer - Nights - Hybrid

Location: Newark, NJ (Local candidates required to work one month onsite, then to remote)

Start details: 9/29/2025

Duration: 3/15/2026 (may be renewed)

Work arrangement: Onsite for 1 month to 100% remote

Interview: Web Cam only.

Responsibilities

• Provide desktop engineering support for third shift operations, including taking user calls with an IVR system (Avaya).
• Cover one weekend shift and holidays that land on coverage days.

Qualifications

• Overall IT experience: 5+ years required.
• Education: Bachelor\'s degree in information technology or related field or equivalent experience required.
• Certification: IT-related certifications as applicable.
• Must have excellent communication skills (oral and written) and the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
• Familiarity with DHCP, DNS, LAN, WAN, and other common networking concepts: 5+ years required.
• Experience taking user calls utilizing an IVR system, preferably Avaya: 5+ years required.
• Basic understanding of ITIL foundation processes (Incident, Request, Change); major incident management experience (e.g., opening outage bridges) preferred.
