Position profile
Responsible for performing close of day scenarios for the hotel Guest Service area and account for daily activity by organizing and verifying information; identifying and correcting discrepancies; posting accounts; running and distributing daily reports.
Essential job functions
- Audit, balance and report on all food and beverage outlets cash and credit operations (restaurants, lounges, banquets, room service) including checks, over/short figures, deposits, counts, house charges, promotional materials, postings, etc., and reset all registers to ensure accurate, timely information.
- Reconcile cashier’s reports with the restaurant system each night, researching and posting any unresolved tickets from day shifts.
- Maintain and post a daily balance of all house accounts, including running preliminary reconciliations, detail transactions and final reports to accounting.
- Audit, balance, post and report on the front desk activities (room charges, phone calls, zero balance folios, corrections, adjustments, taxes, disputed charges, over/short figures, deposits, etc.) to ensure accuracy and proper cash handling procedures.
- Audit, balance and prepare, verify and report on Room information to provide rooms management with performance insights.
- Prepare and input statistics and income journal sheets for daily reports; produce accurate and timely reports and correctly handle all cash transactions.
- Balance and audit for accuracy room revenue, food and beverage revenue, cashier’s reports, and guest and house accounts and telephone revenue; assist in the preparation of all reports relevant to daily revenues and close all bank ticket codes, daily.
- Transmit credit card batches; run night audit final after ensuring all revenues are in balance nightly.
- Complete and transmit daily management and accounting reports and supporting documents.
- Act as hotel system liaison during night hours.
- Perform all Guest Service Representative functions as required; may assist in booking room reservations; may assist in answering hotel phone calls and notifying guests of messages.
- Perform any other duties as designated.
Desired skills and qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent experience. College degree preferred.
Experience: Six to twelve months of employment in a related position or office setting with this company or other organizations. Accounting or hospitality experience is a bonus.
Skills and abilities: Excellent computer and cash handling skills; ability to stand for extended periods; sociable, outgoing, guest service–oriented demeanor; ability to adapt to changing guest needs. Working knowledge is generally learned on-the-job. Good judgment and conflict resolution skills. Ability to communicate information and hotel services to management, staff and guests.
