General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate makes eye contact, smiles, and greets all Customers in a courteous and friendly manner, treats fellow Associates with respect, follows all company best practice standards, maintains a clean work area, and ensures proper merchandise presentation. The Associate may perform a range of functions in all areas of the Store as business needs require and may be assigned additional tasks to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors in everything they do.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps access paths clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats all Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; is friendly and professional at all times.
  • Assists Customers in any way necessary, including being register-trained, assisting with merchandise, and answering questions in a polite and knowledgeable manner. Greets Customers consistently.
  • Provides prompt responses to Customer inquiries and Service calls; handles issues courteously and with leadership involvement when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks to maintain a neat store, including sweeping, mopping, dusting, sanitizing high-touch areas, and replenishing supplies.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the Company's dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure a neat, clean, and organized store that is well-maintained and merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and merchandises items per monthly guidelines to support presentation standards.
  • Understands Loss Prevention policies and merchandise protection standards.
  • Demonstrates integrity and protects confidential information, cash, and merchandise.
  • Follows MOS policies, processes disposals as approved by Store Leadership.
  • Follows cash, check, charge, and refund procedures with accuracy and awareness.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties and maximize productivity while following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
  • Standing, walking, and moving around the Store up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop; occasionally push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds.
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Stockroom shifts may require lifting more than 20 pounds.
