General Purpose

The Retail Associate is responsible for ensuring our Customers have a positive shopping experience. The Associate greets customers courteously, treats fellow Associates with respect, maintains a clean work area, ensures proper merchandise presentation, and performs a range of tasks in all areas of the Store as business needs require. Additional tasks may be assigned to help achieve customer service and operational goals.

Essential Functions

  • Understands that safety is the number one priority and practices safe behaviors.
  • Maintains a high level of awareness on the sales floor to create a safe and secure shopping environment; keeps egress areas clear and reports unsafe conditions to Store Leadership.
  • Treats Customers and Associates with respect and courtesy; recognizes fellow Associates using Company recognition programs.
  • Assists Customers with merchandise, answers questions politely and knowledgeably, greets Customers with eye contact and a smile, and thanks customers at the register.
  • Provides prompt responses to Customer Service calls and resolves issues courteously, involving Store Leadership when needed.
  • Represents and supports the Company brand at all times.
  • Performs cleaning tasks and maintains restrooms and high-touch areas to keep merchandise and Team areas clean.
  • Maintains a professional appearance and adheres to the dress code.
  • Performs daily sizing and recovery to ensure the store is neat, clean, and well-merchandised to standards.
  • Expedites newly received merchandise to the sales floor and presents items per monthly guidelines; maintains merchandise/brand familiarity within departments to assist Customers.
  • Understands the Loss Prevention program and merchandise protection standards.
  • Safeguards confidential information, cash, and merchandise; demonstrates integrity and honesty in interactions with Associates and Customers.
  • Follows MOS policies, processes disposals with Store Leadership review, and handles cash, checks, card transactions, refunds, and voids with accuracy.
  • Demonstrates urgency to perform duties efficiently and maximize productivity by following Store best practices.

Qualifications And Special Skills Required

  • Effectively communicate with Customers, Associates and Store Leadership in a friendly, respectful, cooperative and pleasant manner.
  • Ability to perform basic mathematical calculations commonly used in retail environments.

Physical Requirements/Ada

  • Ability to use all Store equipment, including PDTs, registers and PC as required.
  • Ability to stand, walk, and move around the Store for up to 100% of working time.
  • Ability to bend, squat, kneel, climb, carry, reach, and stoop.
  • Ability to push, pull and lift more than 25 pounds (and more than 20 pounds for stockroom shifts).
  • Ability to use janitorial equipment, rolling racks, ladders and other assigned supplies.
  • Certain assignments may require other qualifications and skills.
