What You Can Expect
As our Electrician II at The Ohio State University, under the supervision of the High Voltage Manager & Supervisor, you will be responsible for performing duties as a highly skilled electrician in the installation, operation, troubleshooting, maintenance, and repair of low, medium, and high voltage systems up to 138,000 volts. You will report to the High Voltage Supervisor.
What You’ll Bring
- High school diploma or equivalent, with computer literacy
- Minimum 10 years of experience as a commercial/industrial electrician, including 6 years in installation and maintenance of 600V systems or 6 years in 15,000-volt systems; 3 years of experience in 5,000 & 15,000-volt systems
- Knowledge of basic electrical principles, ability to read technical manuals, schematics, and use testing equipment
- Assist with operation, installation, removal, inspection, troubleshooting, and repair of high-voltage equipment
- Potential to serve as crew leader and train personnel
- Inspect and supervise contractor work, perform preventive maintenance, and overhaul electrical equipment
- Perform lockout/tagout procedures, operate testing and lifting equipment, read blueprints, and update diagrams
- Plan jobs, order materials, diagnose faults, and troubleshoot systems including plants and distribution
- Other duties related to safe operations, maintenance, and training
Additional Details
- Must attend worksite daily
- Valid U.S. driver’s license and willingness to drive company vehicle
- Willing to comply with safety policies
- 50% outdoor work, exposed to weather conditions
Compensation
Hourly: $27.45 to $34.28 USD, with potential bonuses/incentives. Actual salary depends on experience, location, and other factors. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k), paid time off, and family support benefits.
