Posting Summary
Rutgers School of Dental Medicine (RSDM) is seeking a Dental Assistant (Per Diem) for Rutgers Health University Dental Associates. The Dental Assistant performs chairside four handed dentistry and sterilization duties for Rutgers Health University Dental Associates. The position assists providers during the examination and treatment of patients and dispenses dental materials and instruments. The Dental Assistant performs clerical, sterilizing and miscellaneous tasks for the Rutgers Faculty Practice.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
- Prepares room for each patient, which includes setting up instruments and supplies.
- Greets patients and brings them to treatment room.
- Seats patients, adjusts chairs and light, and drapes patients with protective covers.
- Runs water through lines and hand pieces after every patient, as per ADA recommendations.
- Passes instruments to doctor, using four handed dentistry according to CDA certification, during examination period and treatment of patients.
- Charts results of doctor's examination.
- Prepares dental materials for the dentist's use.
- Pours models, trims and evaluates the quality of diagnostic casts.
- Maintains patient's records in accordance with Quality Assurance Guidelines.
Qualifications
Certifications/Licenses
- Must possess CDA Certification (Certificate as a Dental Assistant).
- Valid Radiological Technology License issued by the New Jersey Department of Environmental Protection.
- CPR certification.
Preferred Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of dental experience is highly preferred.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
- Standing, sitting, walking, talking or hearing required. No special vision requirements. Must be able to lift or exert force up to ten (10) pounds.
- General dental office environment. No significant exposure to noise levels.
