Job Summary

Rutgers, The State University of New Jersey, is seeking a Training and Consultation Specialist- PCAST and Pathways for The Boggs Center for Developmental Disabilities at the Robert Wood Johnson Medical School.

Under the supervision of a faculty member, coordinates planning, development, training and technical assistance activities related to best practices in Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) and Pathways to Postsecondary Success. Provides training and technical assistance on best practices in Person-Centered Planning (PCP), transition to adult life, integrated community employment, program design, program implementation and program enhancement to school personnel statewide, with concentration on person-centered approaches for all students with disabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Assists in the development of training modules and materials related to Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) including video and other training technology.
  • Provides training and technical assistance to school/district personnel, students, family members and local partners in PCAST and transition planning in keeping with DOE-OSE and Boggs Center agreements and expectations.
  • Develops and provides training and presentations about Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) to schools/districts and others statewide according to procedure.
  • Assists in developing project elements and timelines in collaboration with supervisor, PCAST coworkers, and DOEOSE staff.
  • Collaborates with other Boggs Center employees regarding Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) including data collection, evaluations, written and verbal communications, and information sharing.
  • As required, conducts analyses, drafts summaries, and creates materials related to Person-Centered Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST) and local progress with Pathways to Postsecondary Success.

Qualifications

Minimum Education and Experience: A Master's Degree in Special Education or a related field (Education, Social Work, Human Services, Counseling, Speech therapy, Psychology) and at least three (3) years professional experience in the field of disabilities, or a Bachelor's Degree in a related field, as indicated above, plus five (5) years' experience years professional experience in the field of disabilities, or a PhD in a related field, as indicated above, and one (1) year of experience in the field of disabilities.

Preferred Qualifications: Experience in technical assistance to schools/districts, Experience in the development and delivery of trainings and presentations in-person, Experience in Person-Centered Planning and Approaches in Schools and Transition (PCAST), Experience in establishing and sustaining a community of practice, Experience in the development and delivery of trainings and presentations virtually, and Experience with technology applications and learning platforms such as Google, Zoom, Qualtrics, Canvas Learning Management System.
