Data Scientist!
Chicago, IL Milliman, Inc. is seeking a Data Scientist to conduct research into fundamental computer and information science as a theorist and designer. The successful candidate will develop solutions to problems in the field of computer hardware and software. Key responsibilities include: Developing and deploying predictive machine learning models to estimate the severity of insurance claims early-on in the claim’s life cycle using Python, PySpark, and Azure. Improving information retrieval systems using NER, Generative AI (Flan-T5, Gemini, ChatGPT) and transformer-based models (BERT). Researching and optimizing Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) powered LLM systems using vector databases (FAISS), quantization, and fine-tuning (LoRa) to improve feature extraction from unstructured data. Requirements for this position include a Master's Degree in Statistics, or Mathematics, or equivalent, and permanent US work authorization.
