Overview
This full-time position is responsible for producing high quality diagnostic radiographs for offenders housed at the Denver Complex. Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:
Evaluates radiological orders to determine positioning, test procedures needed and protective measures for diagnostic testing
Operates fixed and portable X-ray machines according to established guidelines
Produces high quality radiographs to assist medical personnel in diagnosing disease processes
Evaluates finished products and equipment according to quality control standards
Schedules radiological testing to meet offender and test needs
Monitors system for logging all diagnostic tests by offender name, number, location and test
Prepares digital images for radiologist review and electronic information
Scans dictation into the electronic health record
Cleans radiology equipment and maintains a sanitary environment for each exam
Completes related paperwork, bookkeeping and requisitions accurately and timely
Obtains and logs necessary quality control measures
Travel to other facilities within the state as requested
Attends training programs as assigned, including one-day self-defense refresher course
Minimum Qualifications
Registered with the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT) as a Radiologic Technologist in Radiography. You must attach a copy of ARRT credentials.
AND
Associate's degree in Radiologic Technology or related field from an accredited institution. You must attach transcripts showing the institution, degree, award date, and your name.
AND
One year of professional experience as a Radiology Technologist
Substitutions
Clinical experience in the medical field may substitute for the degree on a year-for-year basis, but ARRT certification is still required
Required Competencies
Ability to work in stressful, potentially violent situations with self-control and emotional stability
Ability to remain alert and observant during shifts
Ability to provide direct patient care to offenders in a correctional setting
Ability to operate radiological equipment and perform all radiological examinations
Proficiency in English (reading, writing, and speaking)
Computer proficiency and ability to create accessible documents following plain language guidelines
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to collaborate with a multidisciplinary team
Knowledge of various types of x-ray equipment
Ability to work independently and as part of a team; flexible with schedule
Ability to analyze data and solve problems independently
Maintain required credentials applicable to this assignment
Preferred Qualifications
Experience providing radiologic care in a correctional environment
Experience with digital imaging
Experience working with incarcerated populations and diverse medical populations
Experience with various types of x-ray equipment

Ability to travel and work various shifts, including nights and weekends
Ability to pass TB screening and drug testing (including marijuana policies for non-POST certified staff)
