The Safety Manager will be responsible for overseeing and implementing safety, security, and environmental programs within the facility to ensure compliance with all applicable regulations. This role will partner with facility managers to minimize risk, enhance workplace safety, and maintain security protocols. Responsibilities include conducting safety and security audits, coordinating mandated training, managing worker's compensation cases, and ensuring adherence to relevant laws and regulations. The manager will also lead emergency preparedness initiatives and security measures to safeguard personnel and property.
What Do We Expect?
Business Planning: • Develop, implement, and maintain comprehensive safety and security programs aligned with organizational goals. • Create annual safety and security plans, including training schedules, risk assessments, and emergency response procedures. • Identify and track key performance indicators (e.g., incident rates, near-miss reports, security breaches) and report progress toward objectives. Risk Assessment and Mitigation: • Conduct safety and security hazard assessments to identify potential risks and implement corrective actions. • Develop and present risk mitigation plans and security enhancement initiatives. • Lead incident investigations for safety violations and security breaches, determining root causes and recommending preventive measures. Training and Awareness: • Design and deliver training programs on workplace safety, emergency response, and security protocols. • Develop and distribute safety and security materials, including manuals, guidelines, and visual aids. • Monitor the effectiveness of training programs and adjust content based on emerging risks and compliance changes. Compliance and Auditing: • Ensure all safety and security policies meet OSHA, EPA, and other relevant regulatory requirements. • Lead safety and security audits, addressing deficiencies promptly to maintain compliance and workplace safety. • Monitor facility conditions to ensure compliance with safety and security standards, including fire safety, access control, and surveillance systems. Stakeholder Management: • Build strong relationships with employees, supervisors, contractors, and external agencies to enhance safety and security collaboration. • Act as the primary point of contact for safety and security-related inquiries and concerns, ensuring timely and effective resolutions. • Develop and maintain communication channels to keep all stakeholders informed about safety, security updates, and initiatives. Emergency Preparedness and Security Oversight: • Develop and implement emergency response plans, including fire evacuation, active threat procedures, and disaster recovery strategies. • Coordinate facility security measures, such as access control systems, surveillance monitoring, and security personnel management. • Investigate security incidents, thefts, and unauthorized access, implementing corrective actions to enhance facility protection.
What Are We Looking For? • Bachelor's degree in Occupational Health and Safety, Security Management, Environmental Science, or a related field. • 3-5 years of experience in a manufacturing, industrial, or similar environment with responsibility for safety and security programs. • Strong knowledge of OSHA standards, emergency response planning, security systems, and regulatory compliance. • Expertise in risk assessment, incident investigation, and corrective action planning. • Exceptional communication and training delivery skills; bilingual English/Spanish preferred. • Proficiency in computer tools for safety and security reporting, including Excel and incident tracking software. • Dependable, proactive, and motivated with a commitment to fostering a safety-first and secure workplace culture. • Experience managing worker's compensation cases, security systems, and emergency preparedness initiatives. • Ability to lead a cross-functional Safety and Security Committee and coordinate facility-wide safety and security initiatives.
