School Administrative Assistant (30 hrs a week)

The Choice is seeking an immediate Administrative Assistant for a DC private school.
Because this staffing need is starting mid-school year, they are facilitating this role as a temporary position likely until their next permanent hiring cycle in the spring or potentially through the end of the school year. There could be the possibility of temporary to hire next year depending on their long-term hiring needs and if this is a good fit.
Schedule :
8:15AM-2:45PM, Monday-Friday, fully in person . Upcoming school closures will include: 10/24, 11/11, 11/26-11/30, 12/5, 12/20-1/4 for holidays. This person will not work when the school is closed.
Timeframe : Temporary for now at least until Spring 2026, possibly through the school year.
Salary : This is an hourly role. $30 an hour.
Job Duties The Administrative Assistant will provide essential support for the daily operations of the office, focusing primarily on managing student attendance records, scheduling appointments, and handling all incoming phone calls. This role requires a detail-oriented, organized, and friendly individual who can maintain confidentiality and professionalism while interacting with students, staff, and parents. Job duties will include:
Record and track student attendance data accurately using the designated school database or software.
Communicate with parents/guardians regarding student absences, tardiness, and early dismissals.
Manage and maintain the calendar for Office of Student Services staff, including meetings with school counselors and administrators.
Serve as the primary point of contact for all incoming phone calls to the Office of Student Services.
Answer general inquiries, direct calls to the appropriate staff member, and take accurate messages.
Maintain a professional and helpful demeanor on the phone at all times.
Perform general clerical duties such as filing, photocopying, and data entry.
Assist with special projects and events as assigned by the Student Services Director.
Processing student identification cards and access badges.
Maintain a clean and organized office environment.
Qualifications
At least two years of experience in an education-based setting
Fluent in Microsoft Office
Friendly, personable, organized, and highly professional demeanor
