Oct 31, 2025 at 11:59 PM Eastern Time Description Tenure-Track Faculty Position in Biomembranes/Membrane Biology The Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology at Stony Brook University invites applications for a tenure-track position at the level of Assistant Professor. Candidates who seek to understand membranes at the molecular or cellular level using biochemical, biophysical or structural methods are encouraged to apply. Comprising faculty in both the College of Arts and Sciences and the School of Medicine, the Department of Biochemistry and Cell Biology is an active, collaborative community of scholars with broad research interests dedicated to both scientific discovery and fostering inclusive education at undergraduate, graduate, and post-graduate levels. Beyond the Department there are opportunities for collaboration with other departments and with research programs including the Stony Brook Center for Structural Biology, the Stony Brook Institute for Chemical Biology and Drug Discovery, the Laufer Center for Physical and Quantitative Biology, the Stony Brook Center for Infectious Diseases, as well as the Laboratory for Biomolecular Structure at the nearby Brookhaven National Laboratory. In addition, the University maintains professionally staffed core facilities to support research including cryo-electron microscopy, proteomics, next generation sequencing and confocal microscopy. Qualifications
Required qualifications: Candidates must have a Ph.D. and/or M.D. (or foreign equivalent) in biochemistry, biophysics, structural biology, or a closely related field, as well as at least two years of postdoctoral experience. Candidates must have demonstrated excellence in innovative research and have a strong commitment to teaching at the undergraduate and graduate levels. Preferred qualifications: Research program that seeks to understand membranes at the molecular or cellular level using biochemical, biophysical or structural methods. Application Instructions
