KIPP Public Schools Northern California is seeking a Vietnamese Teacher (Part Time) for High School in San Jose (25-26). Responsibilities
Teach with purpose by designing daily lessons, intentional curriculum, and regular data analysis to help all students learn and grow; implement Social Emotional Learning (SEL) lessons and Restorative Practices to create a joyful, inclusive classroom community. Collaborate with the Leadership Team and Instructional Coach through weekly meetings and ongoing feedback to improve instructional practices. Implement anti-racism initiatives by reflecting on identities and experiences and analyzing school systems, culture, data, and progress to address students’ needs. Daily and long-term planning aligned with KIPP’s academic vision and goals; analyze data to identify student trends and inform instruction. Maintain a positive, warm, inclusive, rigorous classroom environment with restorative practices and SEL. Communicate regularly with staff, students, families, and other stakeholders to build strong partnerships. Participate in weekly professional development and Communities of Practice to grow as an educator. Qualifications
Experience as an educator teaching students with demographics similar to KIPP’s student community. Education: Hold a B.A./B.S. from a regionally accredited institution; or eligibility for a Provisional Internship Permit or Short Term Staff Permit. Knowledge/skills: Commitment to KIPP mission and anti-racist education; belief that all students can achieve at high levels; strong content knowledge; ability to build relationships with students, families, and communities; effective communication; proficient in Google Workspace; ability to use instructional technology for in-class and distance learning (e.g., Zoom, Nearpod). Essential Functions and Responsibilities
Daily and long-term lesson planning aligned with KIPP’s goals. Regular data analysis to inform instructional practices. Maintain an inclusive, engaging classroom environment with restorative approaches and SEL. Apply culturally responsive classroom management to ensure a safe learning environment. Regular communication with staff, students, families, and key stakeholders. Attend weekly professional development and other communities of practice. Update student records (attendance, grades, behavior data, etc.). Physical, Mental and Environmental Demands
Physical:
Navigate school and classroom, access technology, occasional lifting 1–20 lbs, and physical movements to perform duties. Mental:
Handle deadlines, analyze problems, work with interruptions, focus for extended periods, and perform cognitive tasks. Environmental:
