Vaco is partnering with a valued client in Corona, CA
to identify a skilled
Payroll Specialist
to join their team. This is an exciting opportunity to work in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where accuracy, confidentiality, and experience with union and certified payroll are key. If you have a background in construction payroll and thrive in a hands-on role, we want to hear from you! What You'll Be Doing:
Maintain payroll and personnel records with the utmost confidentiality Process accurate and timely weekly multi-state payrolls Manage manual timesheet entry and coordinate payroll across multiple locations Ensure compliance with union requirements and collective bargaining agreements Handle certified payroll reporting and prevailing wage documentation Process off-cycle and special payrolls, garnishments, PTO/vacation payouts, and pay card/direct deposit setups Prepare and remit payroll taxes at the state and federal level Support internal and external payroll audits Submit workers' compensation reports to the insurance carrier Partner with the accounting team on payroll-related GL reconciliations Respond to employment verification requests Contribute to process improvements and ensure ongoing compliance with payroll laws What You Bring to the Table:
In-house payroll processing experience is
required Strong knowledge of union and certified payroll is
required Experience in the
construction industry
is
highly preferred Familiarity with ECMS or similar ERP systems (HeavyJob/HCSS experience is a plus) Understanding of prevailing wage laws and job costing Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Business, or equivalent experience Excellent Excel skills (VLOOKUP, pivot tables, formulas, etc.) Detail-oriented with strong analytical and problem-solving skills Ability to prioritize in a fast-paced environment with changing deadlines Strong written and verbal communication skills Eagerness to stay up-to-date with payroll laws across multiple states Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
