Air Quality Project Manager / Senior Scientist

Position Overview
We are currently seeking a
Senior Engineer or Scientist
with strong project management capabilities to join the Air Quality team. This role will lead and manage air quality compliance projects for a range of industrial clients, with an emphasis on regulatory compliance, permitting, air dispersion modeling, and client relationship management.
The ideal candidate will bring a mix of technical depth, regulatory expertise, and leadership acumen-capable of both hands-on project execution and mentoring junior staff.
Key Responsibilities
Lead air quality permitting projects across single and multi-facility clients, with a focus on the Southeast and nationwide.
Prepare and manage permit applications for construction (PSD, NAA-NSR, Synthetic Minor, True Minor). Develop operating permit applications (Title V, Synthetic Minor, True Minor).
Conduct air dispersion modeling
using AERMOD, CALPUFF, and screening models to support permitting, compliance evaluations, and enforcement cases. Manage multi-media environmental compliance projects, including:
SPCC plans, stormwater management, EPCRA Tier II and TRI reporting, and hazardous waste assessments.
Serve as the
technical lead and project manager , overseeing scope, schedule, budget, and quality deliverables. Supervise and mentor project staff, promoting a culture of accountability and growth. Oversee financial aspects of project delivery: proposals, forecasting, budget tracking, invoicing, and subcontractor coordination. Maintain client relationships and ensure satisfaction through proactive communication and on-time delivery. Ensure adherence to
health and safety practices
and support company-wide safety culture. Stay current on industry trends through ongoing professional development. Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in
Engineering
or
Environmental Science
(or related discipline) from an accredited institution. 5-10 years
of relevant experience in air quality consulting, permitting, or environmental compliance. Demonstrated experience managing and preparing air permit applications (construction and operating permits). Familiarity with
state and local air permitting regulations , particularly in the Southeast (preferred). Strong knowledge of
air dispersion modeling
platforms such as AERMOD and CALPUFF. Working knowledge of
multi-media environmental compliance
(SPCC, TRI, EPCRA, stormwater, hazardous waste). Proficiency in
Microsoft Office Suite
and other relevant project tools. Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and
project management
skills, with the ability to handle multiple deadlines and priorities. Proven ability to lead, mentor, and collaborate within a team environment. Additional Details
