DISTINGUISHED ENGINEER - CONTACT CENTER AUTOMATION GEICO is seeking a highly experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-down time modern platforms and applications. You will help drive our Contact Center business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of innovation and continuous improvement. GEICO is going through a massive digital transformation to re-platform the Insurance industry, removing friction across Customers, Partners, Marketplace, Segments, Channels, and Experiences as we grow our reach and market share. We are a large auto insurer with a stabilizing parent, Berkshire Hathaway, and a strong history of training and career advancement for our associates. Today, we employ more than 30,000 full-time associates. In 2023, GEICO reported a record pretax underwriting profit of $3.6 billion against $39 billion in revenue. GEICO is seeking a Distinguished Engineer to help lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap, increase product delivery velocity, and unlock new engineering capabilities across the organization. About the Role
Our Distinguished Engineer works with Staff and Senior Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve and enhance existing systems, and identify new opportunities to apply their knowledge to solve critical problems. This role is a key member of the engineering staff, working across the organization to provide a frictionless experience to our customers while maintaining protection and availability in a hyper-growth environment. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between. As a Distinguished Engineer on the Contact Center Automation team, you will: Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems Define product scope and leverage your technical skills to drive the right solution Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycle Work in a team environment utilizing AI and ML to streamline the operations of the contact center Lead design sessions and code reviews to elevate engineering quality Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective Utilize developer tooling and Azure services across the SDLC to perform advanced Java design, implementation, and maintenance activities Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems Be accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of solutions Mentor and coach the engineering and product communities Influence and educate leadership at all levels Share best practices, improve processes, measure outcomes, and sponsor continuous learning Qualifications
Advanced programming experience with at least two modern languages (e.g., Java, C++, Python, or C#) including object-oriented design Proficiency with AI/ML stacks and libraries; experience shipping applied AI products Understanding of microservices architecture and extensible REST APIs Experience shaping architecture and design (reliability, scaling) of new and current systems Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts and cloud architecture Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code Strong problem-solving ability Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment Knowledge of developer tooling across the SDLC In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms Ability to design, perform experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production Track record of publications in credible conferences and journals Experience

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience Annual Salary $130,000.00 - $300,000.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final salary to be offered, including scope and responsibilities, the candidate’s experience and education, work location, and market considerations.
