Base pay range $130,000.00/yr - $300,000.00/yr About The Role GEICO is seeking a highly experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime modern platforms and applications. You will help drive our Contact Center business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of innovation and continuous improvement. Today, we employ more than 30,000 full-time associates. GEICO is going through a massive digital transformation to re-platform the Insurance industry, removing friction across Customers, Partners, Marketplace, Segments, Channels, and Experiences as we grow our reach and market share. Role scope As a Distinguished Engineer on the Contract Center Automation team, you will work with Staff and Senior Engineers to innovate and build new systems, improve and enhance existing systems, and identify new opportunities to apply your knowledge to solve critical problems. You will lead the strategy and execution of a technical roadmap that will increase the velocity of delivering products and unlock new engineering capabilities. This individual is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our customers and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between. Responsibilities Scope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systems; Build product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solution; Engage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the software lifecycle; Work in a team environment utilizing AI and ML to streamline the operations of the contact center; Lead in design sessions and code reviews with peers to elevate the quality of engineering across the organization; Define, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspective; Utilize developer tooling and a variety of Azure tools and services across the software development life cycle to perform advanced-level Java application design, implementation, and maintenance activities under minimal direction; Collaborate with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems; Accountable for the quality, usability, and performance of the solutions; Mentor and help coach and strengthen the technical expertise of our engineering and product community; Influence and educate leadership at all levels; Share best practices and improve processes, measure outcomes to ensure desired results, demonstrate adaptability and sponsor continuous learning. Qualifications Advanced programming experience with at least two modern languages such as Java, C++, Python or C# including object-oriented design; Proficient with AI/ML stack and libraries; experience in shipping applied AI products; Understanding of micro-services architecture and extensible REST APIs; Experience building architecture and design of new and current systems; Advanced understanding of DevOps concepts and Cloud Architecture; Experience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as code; Strong problem-solving ability; Ability to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environment; Knowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle; In-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithms; Ability to design, perform experiments, and influence engineering direction and product roadmap; Experience partnering with engineering teams and transferring research to production; Track record of publications history in credible conferences and journals. Experience 12+ years of professional software development within a Java framework (J2EE, web containers and Java) 3+ years applied AI/ML experience 10+ years of experience with architecture and design 6+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service 6+ years of experience in CI/CD deployments and infrastructure as code 6+ years of experience in open-source frameworks Education Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experience Annual Salary $130,000.00 - $300,000.00 The above annual salary range is a general guideline.
