The Assistant Director supports the Surgery Functional Unit and the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) of Surgery in planning, directing, and managing the operational and administrative functions of the Department of Surgery at The Johns Hopkins Hospital. This role provides comprehensive support to the CAO, Director of Nursing, Director of Advanced Practice, and other departmental leaders to advance strategic, clinical, and operational goals. Reporting directly to the JHH CAO of Surgery, the Assistant Director serves as the lead project manager for initiatives that strengthen clinical operations, improve efficiency, enhance patient safety and quality, and support workforce and financial planning. The Assistant Director manages and executes complex projects using improvement and change management methodologies to optimize systems, streamline processes, and drive overall operational performance. The position fosters a culture of innovation, collaboration, and continuous improvement while effectively balancing multiple high-impact priorities. Education:
Bachelor’s degree required, Master’s degree preferred- MHA or MBA, RNs require a Bachelor’s degree in Nursing and APPs require a Master’s degree. Equivalency allowed in lieu of education of experience. Required Licensure Certification, etc.
Six Sigma certification desirable. Work Experience:
Requires 7 years of related/progressive experience that includes 2 years of management experience. Experience in supporting organizational change, Project Management, Change Management, Performance/Process Improvement is preferred. Equivalency allowed in lieu of education of experience. Salary Range: Minimum 41.26/hour - Maximum 72.23/hour. Compensation will be commensurate with equity and experience for roles of similar scope and responsibility.
