Senior Payroll Specialist – Prevailing Wage (Hybrid – Long Beach, CA) Vaco is seeking a

Senior Payroll Specialist

with

strong prevailing wage expertise

What You’ll Do: Process and review semi-monthly payrolls for 1,350–1,400 employees (exempt and non-exempt) Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local payroll, wage, and hour laws Maintain and update payroll records for new hires, terminations, promotions, and benefit deductions Audit and reconcile payroll reports; resolve discrepancies Prepare and file quarterly and annual payroll tax reports (941, W-2, W-3, 940) Collaborate with HR and Finance on employee data, benefits, and payroll integration Lead prevailing wage and labor/contract compliance programs Monitor business activities for prevailing wage compliance and provide guidance to leadership Stay up-to-date on wage regulations and train managers on compliance requirements Support internal/external payroll audits and month-end closing tasks Mentor junior payroll staff and lead process improvement initiatives What We’re Looking For: 7+ years’ experience

in prevailing wage, certified payroll, and contract compliance Multi-state payroll experience

required Workday experience a plus (ADP, Paycom, Paylocity also considered) Strong knowledge of FLSA, wage/hour regulations, and payroll best practices Bachelor’s degree in Business, Accounting, or related field preferred CPP, FPC, or similar payroll certifications a plus Excellent attention to detail, organization, and problem-solving skills Join a collaborative payroll team of 4 within a large, multi-state organization Be the subject matter expert on prevailing wage compliance Determining compensation for this role (and others) at Vaco/Highspring depends upon a wide array of factors including but not limited to the individual’s skill sets, experience and training, licensure and certifications, office location and other geographic considerations, as well as other business and organizational needs. With that said, as required by local law in geographies that require salary range disclosure, Vaco/Highspring notes the salary range for the role is noted in this job posting. The individual may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, and can participate in medical, dental, and vision benefits as well as the company’s 401(k) retirement plan.
