Job Description: Manufacturing Assembly Engineer

The Manufacturing Assembly Engineer is responsible for developing, improving, and supporting assembly processes to ensure high-quality, efficient, and cost-effective manufacturing. This role will collaborate closely with Mechanical Engineering and Industrial Engineering team members, as well as production, assembly, testing, and quality teams, to optimize workflow and maintain compliance with safety and quality standards. The engineer will identify areas of waste, inefficiency, or quality issues and implement corrective actions, working with the Assembly Manager for implementation.

Responsibilities

  • Design, document, and improve assembly, and test processes, tooling, and work instructions.

  • Identify and implement process improvements to increase productivity, reduce waste, and enhance product quality.

  • Conduct time studies and ergonomic assessments to improve workflow efficiency.

  • Provide daily technical support to assembly teams to resolve production issues.

  • Train manufacturing and assembly technicians on new processes, equipment, and safety protocols.

  • Maintain accurate documentation for assembly processes, including work instructions, SOPs, and checklists.

  • Collaborate with design engineering to ensure manufacturability of new products.

  • Develop assembly plans, tools, and equipment for new product launches.

  • Specify, design, and procure jigs, fixtures, and specialized assembly equipment.

  • Ensure all tools and equipment are properly maintained and calibrated.

  • Work with suppliers to develop custom solutions for production needs.

  • Partner with the Manufacturing Quality Control Engineer and other Industrial Engineering team members to ensure products meet all specifications and standards.

  • Implement corrective actions for quality issues identified during production.

  • Support continuous improvement initiatives such as Lean, Six Sigma, and 5S.

Essential Skills

  • Bachelor's degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Industrial Engineering, or a related field.

  • 5+ years of experience in manufacturing or assembly engineering.

  • Strong understanding of assembly processes, tooling design, and manufacturing workflows.

  • Proficiency in CAD software (NX CAD, SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or equivalent).

  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems and manufacturing processes.

  • Attention to detail and analytical thinking with data-driven decision-making skills.

  • Excellent problem-solving and communication skills for both technical reporting and team collaboration.

  • Project management skills to coordinate process and quality improvement initiatives.

  • Knowledge of safety regulations and manufacturing standards (OSHA, ISO, 3A, etc.).

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Microsoft Word, and Power BI.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

  • Experience with Lean manufacturing principles, Six Sigma, or Kaizen preferred.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $75000.00 - $85000.00/yr.
