About the Role The Parts Counter Specialist is a critical role responsible for all aspects of automotive parts sales and service. You will be the primary point of contact for our retail customers, wholesale accounts, and internal service department, ensuring they receive the correct parts in a timely and professional manner.

Key Responsibilities Customer Service & Sales: Assist all customers (retail, wholesale, and service technicians) in selecting and purchasing required parts and accessories in a friendly, professional, and efficient manner. Answer phone calls, online requests, and in-person inquiries, providing accurate price quotes, availability, and technical information. Inform customers of companion parts, special promotions, and full product line offerings.

Order Management & Inventory: Oversee the parts sales process from start to finish, including invoicing, receiving payments (cash, charge, credit), and processing credits for returned items. Use electronic parts catalogs and ordering systems to accurately look up and identify parts by Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) and application. Pull and fill orders from stock; conduct weekly bin checks to ensure inventory accuracy. Locate out-of-stock parts from outside sources or submit emergency orders, coordinating with the Parts Manager as needed. Manage and track special order parts, providing status updates to customers promptly.

Operational Excellence: Maintain orderly, accurate records of all repair orders, invoices, and special-order parts. Assist in managing inventory control, stocking incoming parts, and keeping the parts department clean and well-organized. Understand and follow all federal, state, and local regulations applicable to the industry, as well as company safety policies. Review body shop and service estimates to ensure correct parts are ordered and pricing is accurate.

Qualifications & Requirements Experience: Minimum of 2+ years of experience working at an automotive parts counter (dealership experience, especially with Ford/Lincoln, is a significant plus). Technical Knowledge: Strong knowledge of automotive makes, models, and systems. Ability to quickly identify problems and offer appropriate parts solutions. Education: High School Diploma or equivalent required.

Skills: Excellent communication (verbal and written), interpersonal, and customer service skills. Strong reading, mathematical, and computer skills, including the ability to utilize parts catalogs, dealership management systems (DMS), and Microsoft Office (Excel experience preferred). Proven ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, percentages, commissions, and volume. Detail-oriented, highly organized, and strong time management skills. A positive, friendly attitude and professional appearance. Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-volume environment.

Physical Requirements: Ability to lift up to 50 pounds. Ability to work on your feet for extended periods of time. License: Valid driver’s license and a clean driving record.
