Overview Unarmed Security Officers are responsible for meeting local and federal requirements to perform duties as an armed officer. Primary duties may include but are not limited to first response to emergencies, enforcing, conducting mobile patrols, inspections, searches, access control, and detecting, delaying, detaining, and/or apprehending persons attempting to gain unauthorized access to Government property in accordance with Post Orders. Officers must stay vigilant and observant at all times.

Responsibilities

Adhere to all company personnel and safety policies and perform all assigned duties in a safe working manner.

Perform tasks in accordance with duties outlined in Post Orders.

Arrive at work in proper uniform and carry the necessary, issued equipment.

Participate in Guard Mount, receive assigned post, and copy any extra instructions.

Use provided communication devices (e.g., two-way radio) clearly and concisely.

Provide personal escort services for designated personnel and visitors when directed.

Conduct personnel, vehicular, building & facility checks, packages, and parcel inspections.

Carry firearm license/permit on person while on duty where required by local or state law.

Maintain hourly logs, detailed reports, and files of all incidents and occurrences during the tour of duty.

Provide detailed reports on daily activities and/or incidents that may have occurred.

Be knowledgeable and able to effectively use magnetometer and X-ray machines.

Ensure credentials are maintained per contract requirements.

Demonstrate excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Maintain a customer service‑driven mindset.

Be able to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays if needed.

Perform other duties as assigned by the Supervisor and/or Project Manager.

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

MD Armed Guard Card.

DHS Suitability and DHS Letter of Suitability.

CPR/First Aid certification.

Handcuffing Tactics and Instruction.

Firearms Qualification (as required).

FPS Orientation Certificate.

MEB Expandable Baton.

Initials Weapon Training.

Basic Training Exhibits 72/64 hours.

O.C. aerosol spray.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Customer service mindset.

Ability to work flexible hours, including weekends and holidays.

Physical Demands

Shall be physically able to perform tasks in the performance of assigned duties.

Frequent and prolonged walking, standing, sitting, and stooping up to 12 hours per day, indoors or outdoors.

Frequent contact with the general public, law enforcement, and dispatch centers; ability to speak clearly and remain calm in stressful situations.

Ability to remain on post for up to four consecutive hours without a break.

Ability to remain alert for up to 12 hours with rapid reaction to unexpected and dangerous situations.

Ability to subdue violent or potentially violent individuals or intervene in a crisis.

Occasional running, sprinting, lifting heavy objects, and climbing stairs.
