Our client is seeking a 2 Production Manager responsible for overseeing daily manufacturing operations at their facility. This role ensures that production targets are met safely, efficiently, and in compliance with quality standards.

The Production Manager will lead a team of supervisors and operators, drive continuous improvement initiatives, and collaborate cross-functionally to optimize plant performance.

Some of the things they do:

  • Run Acetylene Generator (indoor control monitoring and outdoor valves)
  • Moving and unloading rail cars & trucks with hazardous materials in outdoor sheds under a Nitrogen purge for safety reasons (flammable when in the open air)
  • Crushing and sizing product (gray rock) into various sizes (indoor/outdoor operation under a Nitrogen purge)
  • Running a bagging & canning line (for flammable rocks) in an open air shed
  • Pond dredging, heavy equipment operation (dump truck, payloader, etc.)
  • 24/7
  • Dusty, dirty, rain, snow, hot or cold

Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage all aspects of production operations, including scheduling, staffing, and resource allocation
  • Ensure compliance with safety protocols, environmental regulations, and company policies
  • Monitor production metrics and implement strategies to improve throughput, yield, and efficiency
  • Collaborate with maintenance, engineering, and quality teams to resolve operational issues and minimize downtime
  • Develop and train production staff, fostering a culture of accountability and continuous improvement
  • Maintain accurate production records and reporting systems
  • Support capital projects, equipment upgrades, and process optimization initiatives
  • Participate in incident investigations and implement corrective actions
  • Drive lean manufacturing principles and 5S practices across the production floor
  • Serve as a key point of contact for internal stakeholders and external auditors

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Industrial, etc.) or Technical Certification
  • 5+ years of experience in furnace/smelting/heavy industrial/heavy chemicals
  • Lean Six Sigma certification
  • Experience in continuous improvement programs, such as lean manufacturing and 6S
  • Proven leadership experience managing production teams in a union or non-union environment
  • Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, safety regulations, and quality standards.
  • Commitment to safety, quality, and compliance standards.
  • Proficiency in implementing process optimization and cost reduction initiatives.
  • Strong understanding of process safety, mechanical systems, and industrial controls
  • Excellent problem-solving, communication, and organizational skills
  • Proficiency in production planning software and Microsoft Office Suite
  • Familiarity with OSHA, EPA, and other regulatory standards
