Neuro Intermediate Progressive Care Unit (PCU), 19 beds
Assignment Type:
13-week travel nursing contract
Start Date:
10/13/2025
End Date:
1/10/2026
Shift:
12-hour night shifts (7:00pm – 7:00am)
Hours:
36 hours/week guaranteed
Weekend Rotation:
Every other weekend
Holiday Coverage:
75% of holidays during assignment
Floating:
Required within region and scope of practice

Estimated Weekly Salary:
$1570 - $1680
PCU Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license in North Carolina or compact state (NC travel nursing jobs)
Minimum 2 years of recent PCU nursing experience, with strong neuro patient care background
BLS, ACLS, and NIHSS certifications required
Clinical proficiency in lumbar drains, stroke care, cardiac rhythm interpretation, trach care, PIV starts, chest tube management, NGT placement, and drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP, flexiseals, foley)
Experience with medication gtt management (cardiac drips, heparin, blood products, IVF, nicardipine drips)
Familiarity with EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
Ability to float to other facilities within the designated region as needed
PCU RN Responsibilities
Provide high-quality nursing care to post-operative neurosurgery patients and those with complex neuro diagnoses (craniotomy, VP shunt, deep brain stimulator, stroke, subdural hematoma)
Monitor and respond to changes in patient condition, including telemetry monitoring
Manage drains, tubes, and medication infusions per hospital protocols
Collaborate with a multidisciplinary healthcare team including CNAs, charge nurses, hospitalists, intensivists, and respiratory therapists
Participate in weekend and holiday rotations as scheduled
Float to other units or facilities within the region as required
Maintain accurate patient documentation using EPIC EMR
