Registered Nurse Qualifications
Active Registered Nurse (RN) license
Minimum 18 months of recent Med/Tele or PCU RN experience
BLS (Basic Life Support) certification
ACLS (Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support) certification
NIHSS (National Institutes of Health Stroke Scale) certification
Strong PCU nursing skills: cardiac rhythm interpretation, stroke care, trach care, chest tube management, IV therapy
Ability to float to other healthcare units or facilities in the region as needed
PCU Nurse Responsibilities
Deliver compassionate, evidence-based nursing care to patients with diagnoses including stroke, heart failure, chest pain, COPD, GI disorders, liver failure, and renal conditions
Manage critical care drips (Insulin, Nitroglycerin, Cardene, Diltiazem, Amiodarone, Heparin) and blood products
Perform and manage procedures: PIV starts, NGT placement, drain/tube management (Dobhoff, PEG, Hemovac, JP drains, Foley), and PCA pumps
Interpret cardiac rhythms and respond to emergencies appropriately
Collaborate with interdisciplinary healthcare teams: CNAs, charge nurses, phlebotomy, IV/VAT team, respiratory therapists, hospitalists, intensivists
Utilize EPIC EMR, Alaris IV pumps, Omnicell medication dispensing, and Phillips monitors
Participate in orientation and ongoing clinical training to maintain high standards of patient care
