Job Title: School Receptionist

Reports To: School Principal
Salary Grade: 101
Work Location: Carrboro High School
FLSA Status: Nonexempt
Work Schedule: 11 Month
Position Summary
The goal of the Receptionist is to contribute to effective school-public relations by prompt and courteous handling of all inquiries and visitors.
Essential Duties
- Greets all visitors courteously, determines their needs, checks appointments, and directs and escorts them to the proper person
- Answers office telephone and responds appropriately to requests for information
- Maintains an attractive and comfortable reception area which includes a reading table stocked with current school district publications and periodicals of general interest
- Reports immediately the presence in the building of any visitor who bypasses the reception desk or any suspicious activity or unusual behavior on the part of visitors
- Receives and distributes mail to appropriate persons
- Perform related duties as assigned by supervisor
- Maintain compliance with all company policies and procedures
Education/Experience Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED required
- Typing, filing and other secretarial skills
- Ability to deal with people in a tactful and effective manner
- Such alternatives to the above qualifications as the Board may find appropriate and acceptable
Physical Requirements
- Must be able to physically perform the basic operational functions of stooping, kneeling, crouching, reaching, standing, walking, hearing and repetitive motion
- Ability to lift a minimum of 20 pounds
- Ability to safely and successfully perform the essential job functions consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards
- Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards
- Must be able to talk, listen and speak clearly on telephone
