Overview The Cloud Architect drives development of the overall application, data, and infrastructure blueprints and standards in relation to cloud technologies. The Cloud Architect must have a broad view of the entire organization and will work in a team environment developing enterprise IT technology strategy and providing a cloud technology vision aligned to business priorities through thought leadership, processes, structure, and value delivery in the cloud technology space. The successful candidate will define an architectural cloud roadmap for overall development while aligning with business requirements and fostering strategic innovation. S/He will evaluate new or enhanced cloud technologies to improve current systems and support overall corporate goals.
Core Responsibilities and Essential Functions
Work with all levels of management and other stakeholders to develop solutions meeting business requirements using advanced cloud technology solutions.
Develop accurate representations of the business environment, strategy and critical success factors framed in regard to cloud opportunities.
Define the target cloud architecture to support the organization’s mission and strategy.
Prepare formal proposals, capital and operating budgets for the recommended cloud architecture.
Assist Cloud Engineers and other stakeholders in building cloud services and solutions that follow best practices and security guidelines.
Assist in developing the cloud technology strategy and vision to support key business processes and needs.
Develop cloud infrastructure architectural standards and enterprise-wide documentation standards for cloud architectures.
Maintain documentation for cloud technology standards and provide prescriptive guidelines for applying these standards.
Lead defining and maintaining policies and principles for approved cloud architectures.
Learn and lead team development in cloud technologies; stay in sync with emerging cloud technologies to evolve enterprise IT implementations.
Present new ideas to IT Senior Management and act as a subject matter expert for cloud technology to IT staff.
Design cloud solutions for implementation that align with the enterprise technology strategy, including integration with legacy systems.
Collaborate with vendors to obtain proposals and quotations; prepare technical and executive presentations for Senior Leadership.
Prepare technical assessments, RFI, and RFP artifacts related to cloud technologies; work with Engineers and project managers to develop detailed implementation plans.
Attend meetings and effectively communicate with senior management, peers, and other stakeholders; maintain regular contact with strategic cloud partners.
Proactively own and review processes to ensure best practices are followed.
Perform additional duties as assigned and comply with all Wellstar Health System policies, standards of work, and code of conduct.
Required Minimum Education Bachelor of Computer Science, Information Systems, or related field
Required Minimum License(s) And Certification(s) All certifications are required upon hire unless otherwise stated.
Additional License(s) And Certification(s) Required Minimum Experience Minimum 6 years of equivalent work experience in lieu of education will be considered. Must have a minimum of 8+ years of experience in IT Infrastructure services, deployment and management of multiple virtual environments, networking, database, storage, virtualization, DR, HA, operations, and monitoring. At least 3+ years of experience in public cloud technology operations (2 years in Microsoft Azure). Microsoft AZ-303 Azure certification preferred.
Required Minimum Skills Comprehensive knowledge of cloud administration (architecture, design, services and offerings) of current public cloud service offerings including Azure, AWS, and GCP. Experience creating architectural documentation and diagrams. Extremely detail-oriented and able to follow standard methodologies for troubleshooting and development.
