The Department of Oncology Research is seeking a highly motivated Scientist to contribute to the discovery and progression of small-molecule therapeutics. The successful candidate is expected to make major scientific laboratory-based contributions to the group goals and present their results in internal forums. Responsibilities
With minimal supervision, plan, conduct or monitor experiments, record and organize data, analyze results, and generate robust and reliable data. Monitor or follow established experimental design and protocols and perform routine tasks to obtain reproducible and reliable results with limited supervision. Plan, monitor or conduct experiments, analyze and record data, and provide interpretation of results. Transfer experimental methods from literature to the lab and modify as necessary. Develop and implement new protocols with moderate review. Engage coworkers in scientific discussions and communicate data and interpretation to the work group. Develop systems to ensure quality data and use standard laboratory equipment with one or more major laboratory techniques. Troubleshoot equipment and experimental difficulties. Contribute to internal/external reports, papers, presentations, regulatory documents, invention disclosures, and/or patents. Participate in department-wide support efforts such as safety, recruiting and committees. May train staff and/or supervise others; coordinate and organize resources needed to complete tasks. Understand when to seek input and when to make independent judgments. Maintain continuous cultures of several mammalian tumor cell lines. Design and execute experiments including high-throughput assays (AlphaLISA, CellTiter-Glo) and other standard molecular biology techniques (immunofluorescence, flow cytometry, Western blot). Perform data analysis including maintaining a laboratory notebook and preparing presentations of data. Qualifications
The ideal candidate will hold a PhD in Cancer Biology, Genetics, or a related field with hands-on experience in mammalian cell culture and standard molecular biology techniques. Candidates with an MS and 3-5 years of relevant industry experience will also be considered. Strong data analysis skills, scientific independence, and a demonstrated publication record, preferably including first-author work, are expected. Must show first-author publication for PhD candidates. Strong skills in standard cell and molecular biology experimental design and techniques (e.g., mammalian cell culture, Western blotting, molecular cloning, qPCR, flow cytometry) and data analysis (e.g., GraphPad Prism). Research experience in cancer biology, genetics, or related field. Excellent organizational, interpersonal and communication skills. Desired Skills
Mammalian cell culture. Proficiency in standard molecular biology techniques (Western blotting, molecular cloning, qPCR, flow cytometry). Familiarity with data processing/analysis (e.g., Excel, GraphPad Prism). Pay Transparency:
The typical base pay for this role across the U.S. is $38.00 - $42.00/hr. Final offer amounts, within the base pay set forth above, are determined by factors including your relevant skills, education and experience and the benefits package you select. Full-time employees are eligible to select from different benefits packages. Packages may include medical, dental, and vision benefits, 10 paid days off, 401(k) plan participation, commuter benefits and life and disability insurance.
