ALTEN Technology USA is an engineering company helping clients bring groundbreaking ideas to life—from space exploration and medical devices to autonomous electric vehicles. With 3,000+ experts across North America, we partner with leading companies in aerospace, medical devices, robotics, automotive, EVs, rail, and more. As part of the global ALTEN Group, we deliver across the entire product development cycle, from consulting to full project outsourcing. We offer mentorship, career growth opportunities, and comprehensive benefits in a culture that values employees and supports growth. We are developing a purpose-built autonomous vehicle and the Sustaining Engineering team ensures long-term reliability, serviceability, and performance as our fleet scales to real-world operations. As an Electrical Sustaining Engineer, you will own sustaining engineering for critical electrical subsystems (sensors, wiring, high-voltage interfaces, lighting, control modules). You will lead design, release, and validation of solutions to address fleet issues, coordinate across suppliers, manufacturing, and service engineering to ensure robust, scalable, and service-friendly solutions. Your work will directly improve fleet uptime, diagnostic effectiveness, and safety, while establishing best practices in sustaining electrical systems.

Responsibilities

Own corrective action development for electrical subsystems, from root cause confirmation through fleet-wide implementation

Lead design updates for components such as connectors, harnesses, modules, and sensor integrations

Partner with suppliers to deliver durable, manufacturable, and serviceable component improvements

Author and manage Engineering Change Requests (ECRs) and Change Actions (CAs), and develop subsystem validation and test plans

Lead fleet trials and analyze post-release performance to verify long-term effectiveness of implemented changes

Provide technical leadership during retrofit campaigns, installation trials, and field failure triage

Mentor junior engineers and technicians on best practices in sustaining engineering and electrical diagnostics

Drive continuous improvement using fleet data, technician feedback, and service reliability metrics

Requirements

BS in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related discipline (MS preferred)

6–8 years of demonstrated experience in electrical systems engineering within a product design and manufacturing environment

Proven record of implementing subsystem-level reliability or serviceability improvements in production vehicles or complex electro-mechanical systems

Strong proficiency in 3D CAD tools (CATIA preferred) and electrical design tools (Altium a plus)

Experience with DFMEA, root cause analysis, and validation testing for electrical systems

Detail-oriented with excellent documentation and cross-functional communication skills

Ability to manage multiple projects autonomously with competing priorities

Experience with EV architectures, high-voltage systems, or autonomous vehicle platforms strongly preferred

Salary

$100,000 - $115,000 per year

The actual salary offered is dependent on location, qualifications, skills, education, training, and experience
