Overview

The Department of Pediatrics Division of Respiratory and Sleep Medicine, Allergy, and Immunology at the University of Virginia School of Medicine and the UVA Children's Hospital seeks candidates for a clinical faculty position at the Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor level to join our growing team. The ideal candidate will have strong interest in advancing academic careers through excellence in clinical practice, teaching, quality improvement, and advocacy. Clinical and translational research opportunities will be available. While expertise in both pulmonary and sleep medicine is desirable, sleep medicine is expected to be the primary focus of clinical effort. Rank, track, and compensation are dependent upon qualifications.

Responsibilities The division currently has five faculty members with a strong support staff including three nurse practitioners, three RN clinical coordinators, a respiratory therapist, pulmonary function technicians, and two administrative assistants. The role includes:

Overseeing the expansion of pediatric sleep services as Medical Director, including leadership of a major growth plan.

Clinical care in pediatric pulmonary and sleep medicine, with an anticipated emphasis on sleep medicine.

Participation in and/or development of teaching, quality improvement, and advocacy activities.

Engagement in clinical and translational research opportunities.

Contributing to program development within existing programs (cystic fibrosis program, primary ciliary dyskinesia, neuromuscular medicine) and expanding aerodigestive services and technology-dependent care.

Program and Facilities Outpatient care is provided on grounds in Charlottesville at a state-of-the-art facility, complemented by a robust satellite program in the Richmond area and anticipated future satellites. Inpatient consultation services are active, and the division includes NIH-funded research and a strong teaching tradition. The medical center recently committed to significantly expand pediatric sleep services, with plans to hire a sleep psychologist and a sleep program coordinator, alongside a recently hired Advanced Practice Provider focusing on sleep.
