RN Clinical - Verdugo Surgery Clinic - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union). Employment with Keck Medicine of USC, Hospital, Glendale, California. Responsibilities
Follows policies and procedures: demonstrates ability to access online manuals and references. Transfers learned scientific knowledge into practical application in applying the nursing process. ASSESSES appropriately completes nursing assessment and screening upon patient encounter via telephone or in clinic. DIAGNOSIS interprets assessment information and formulates nursing diagnosis. PLAN maintains problem list, medication list and allergies list when indicated. INTERVENTION administers medications as ordered and completes re-assessments as indicated. Completes patient care procedures correctly per policy. Delegates tasks based on others\' scope of practice and competency. Acts as patient advocate. DOCUMENTATION is complete and correct on all encounters. Accepts patient disability/EDD/FMLA paperwork and collaborates with Providers to return to patients in a timely manner. EDUCATION provides patient and family education as needed based on diagnosis or treatment plan. EQUIPMENT maintains B/P & Vitals machine and correctly identifies and notifies appropriate department about defective equipment. COMMUNICATION communicates effectively with all members of the healthcare team including the patient and family by appropriate patient/family interactions, effectively triages phone calls and collaborates with Physicians/APPs regarding any needs that require escalation, utilizing Cerner, e-mail system, etc., and SBAR. ORGANIZATION manages time effectively, organizes and prioritizes responsibilities, and takes meal breaks without incurring overtime. OBSERVES REGULATORY AGENCY REQUIREMENTS: National Patient Safety Goals, uses two patient identifiers, avoids unapproved abbreviations, uses time-out, maintains medication reconciliation, adheres to HIPAA and OSHA requirements, and contributes to quality measures and process improvements. PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT participates in professional hospital/nursing activities, relief charge nurse duties, nursing committees/councils, journal club, educational workshops, and development or updating of patient education/staff MA materials. Accepts and completes additional duties as assigned. Assesses a patient\'s knowledge base/understanding of their diagnostic procedure and plans, with the patient, the course of testing/treatment in coordination with the physician. Assists with performance of cardiac diagnostic procedures in the Non-Invasive Cardiology Lab. Educates patient/family about procedures and documents results. Documents procedures and patient tolerance in the chart. Performs other related duties as assigned. Required Qualifications
Bachelor\'s Degree in Nursing (BSN) (grandfathered for hires prior to 12/2019). 1 - 2 years of experience as RN. Excellent communication skills, including the ability to speak, read and write English proficiently. Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions and ability to understand, follow and perform duties including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures, in accordance with administrative and clinical policies, regulations and procedures. Preferred Qualifications
1 year experience in non-invasive Cardiology setting with experience in all non-invasive modalities preferred. 0-1 year experience with vascular patients/procedures. Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. Required Licenses/Certifications
Registered Nurse - RN (CA Board of Registered Nursing). Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider from American Heart Association. Fire Life Safety Training (LA City). If no card upon hire, one must be obtained within 30 days of hire and maintained by renewal before expiration date (LA City only). Compensation
The hourly rate range for this position is $53.00 - $87.45.
