RN Clinical - Verdugo Surgery Clinic - Full Time 8 Hour Days (Non-Exempt) (Non-Union)
As an integral part of the interdisciplinary team, the Registered Nurse utilizes the nursing process to provide therapeutic care to patients.
Responsibilities
Follow policies and procedures and access online manuals and references as needed.
Apply learned scientific knowledge to practical nursing process steps.
ASSESSMENT: Complete nursing assessments and screenings upon patient encounter via telephone or in clinic.
DIAGNOSIS: Interpret assessment information and formulate nursing diagnoses.
PLAN: Maintain problem, medication, and allergy lists when indicated.
INTERVENTION: Administer medications as ordered, conduct re-assessments, perform patient care procedures per policy, delegate tasks based on scope of practice and competency, and advocate for the patient.
DOCUMENTATION: Ensure complete and accurate documentation on all encounters; process disability/EDD/FMLA paperwork and coordinate with Providers for timely patient return.
EDUCATION: Provide patient and family education as needed based on diagnosis or treatment plan.
EQUIPMENT: Maintain vital signs equipment; identify and report defective equipment to the appropriate department.
COMMUNICATION: Interact effectively with the healthcare team, patients, and families; triage calls; escalate needs with Physicians/APPs; use Cerner, e-mail, and SBAR communication as appropriate.
ORGANIZATION: Manage time, organize and prioritize responsibilities, and adhere to breaks without incurring overtime.
REGULATORY COMPLIANCE: Adhere to National Patient Safety Goals, patient identifiers, proper abbreviations, procedural timeouts, medication reconciliation, HIPAA and OSHA requirements, and maintain a safe work environment.
QUALITY MEASURES: Identify and participate in data collection and process improvements.
PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT: Participate in job-related professional activities, committees, journal clubs, workshops, and contribute to patient education materials.
Accept additional duties as assigned.
Assesses patient knowledge, plans care with the patient and physician, and can assist with non-invasive cardiology procedures as applicable.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s Degree in Nursing (BSN) *Grandfathered from BSN if hired prior to 12/2019.
1 - 2 years of RN experience.
Excellent communication skills in English (speaking, reading, writing).
Knowledge of medical procedures and conditions; ability to perform duties including whole blood collection and apheresis procedures per policy.
Preferred
1 year of experience in non-invasive cardiology; familiarity with all non-invasive modalities.
0-1 year of experience with vascular patients/procedures.
Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) Healthcare Provider certification.
Licenses / Certifications
Registered Nurse (RN) – CA Board of Registered Nursing.
Basic Life Support (BLS) Healthcare Provider – American Heart Association.
Fire Life Safety Training (LA City); if not current, must obtain within 30 days of hire and maintain renewal as required.
Compensation The hourly rate range for this position is $53.00 - $87.45.
