Housing Choice Voucher
Part-Time Intake Specialist / 22 hours weekly / 2 full days + ½ day, M-F no weekends!

Overview:
The primary purpose of this part-time position is to process applications for families and individuals applying for housing assistance, gathering all required documents and verifications to determine eligibility for assistance, performing required background checks, calculating and computing rental assistance and ensuring that all vouchers are properly utilized within the Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) department. Responsibilities include but not limited to:
Oversees the screening of HCV, Project Based Vouchers (PBV), Rental Assistance Demonstration (RAD), Veteran Supportive Services Housing (VASH ) and all special program applications to determine eligibility and suitability for receiving housing assistance.
Manages all HCV waiting list
by determining the opening of the waiting lists and receiving the applications. Ensures that names are placed on the lists and selected according to HUD and Spartanburg Housing policies.
Prepares interview letters, schedules briefings, and issues vouchers
based on eligibility and need of the program.
Verifies the accuracy of data obtained from applicants
(e.g., family composition, income, assets, and medical expenses) during the initial application interview to establish eligibility.
Calculates and computes residents' assistance payment amounts
according to established HUD and Spartanburg Housing guidelines.
Determines the voucher size for which each family qualifies , in accordance with the Administrative Plan.
Process incoming portability, reply to PHA request, schedules appointments, interview families and determine eligibility
by Spartanburg Housing guidelines and brief families.
Provide monthly status reports of voucher issuance for all programs .
Assists with serving as the Receptionist
for Spartanburg Housing, answering incoming calls and assisting clients coming to the main office.
Bachelor's Degree in Business Administration or related field and a minimum of one (1) year of increasingly responsible experience with the Housing Choice Voucher Program. 2. Any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience, which, in the sole determination of Spartanburg Housing, provides the required knowledge and abilities, may be considered sufficient.
